George Gulisano Elected To The Ficpa Educational Foundation Board Of Trustees
MIAMI, Fla., January 12, 2010 - George A. Gulisano, CPA, Senior Audit Manager at South Florida accounting firm Mallah Furman, has been chosen to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) Educational Foundation.
The foundation is a non profit organization that provides need based scholarships to Florida accounting students. "As one of the 27 Board members across the State of Florida, I will be charged with the solicitation, investment and disbursement of scholarship funds. Last year the foundation gave out $150,000 in scholarships. I am excited to be a part of this continuing legacy to our profession" states Gulisano.
The FICPA Educational Foundation works to ensure the integrity and success of the accounting profession in Florida. Founded in 1959 as the R. Warner Ring Educational Foundation, it has distributed more than $2 million to colleges and accounting students around the state. Foundation scholarships assist students in pursuing their degrees at any college or university in the state that has an accredited accounting program.
Gulisano is currently President of the FICPA Miami-Dade Chapter and a Senior Audit Manager at South Florida CPA firm Mallah Furman. Throughout his career, George has provided strategic advice to clients from South Florida and Latin America in the areas of auditing, consulting, litigation, tax and estate planning.
He is active in the local community as a member of University of Miami Alumni Association and the Saint Louis Catholic Church. While in Argentina on assignment, he dedicated his time to help disadvantaged children with the creation of several programs, including “Grant a Wish” and "Toys for Ghetto Kids".
Gulisano received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Miami in 1982. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) and the International Association of Latin Businessmen (AIHE).
