Mallah Furman Announces It's Title Sponsorship of the 1st Annual Family Retreat to Benefit the FICPA Educational Foundation
MIAMI, Fla., June 25, 2009 Mallah Furman announced that it will be the title sponsor of the Miami-Dade Chapter's 1st Annual Retreat to Benefit the FICPA Educational Foundation, being held from July 23rd to July 26th at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. The FICPA Educational Foundation works to ensure the integrity and success of the accounting profession in Florida. Founded in 1959 as the R. Warner Ring Educational Foundation, it has distributed more than $2 million to colleges and accounting students around the state. Foundation scholarships assist students in pursuing their degrees at any college or university in the state that has an accredited accounting program.
The Miami -Dade Chapter recognized the importance of promoting the accounting profession and the Institute locally, thereby increasing awareness and support for the FICPA's Educational Foundation, which in turn lead to the evolution of this annual fun-filled, family-oriented retreat.
President of the FICPA Miami-Dade Chapter and Mallah Furman Senior Audit Manager George Gulisano approached management at Mallah Furman with the sponsorship opportunity, and Mallah Furman was more than willing to step up to plate for this worthy cause.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. J. Antonio "Tony" Villamil, the former U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs, and past Chairman of the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors of Florida. He is currently the Dean of the School of Business and a Research Professor of Economics at Saint Thomas University in Miami, Florida.
In addition to the guest speakers and Chapter Board Meeting, the retreat offers an array of events, including a cocktail reception, beach dinner, golf scramble tournament, couples tennis round robin tournament, boating, swimming, spa and leisure activities, and more.
